While we work, we always keep the attached template MH Consulting Mind-Map in front of us all the time. It shows all the different spheres a client might be active in, and on which we may work on behalf of a client. Those areas may be some or all of the following:
- Public relations (including newsletters, press releases and much more)
- Events co-ordination and publicity
- Website (content management, copy-writing)
- Search engine optimisation
- Online social networking (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and many more)
- Blogs and their content, and much more….
However, it’s great to have all these things in place but if they don’t work together to complement each other, to drive traffic to each other – and hopefully to create the business that you want – then all your efforts are wasted.
Your big rule is to chose what you want to start with in terms of the tools or options that are available, and to ALWAYS ensure that the one is linked to the other. Your website must always show your full contact details. If you have a blog, make sure it is visible on your website, your LinkedIn profile, your Facebook profile and that every blog post is publicised on your Twitter account.
Fortunately, these are all things that you can automate – thank heavens for technology! Now we just have to learn how to use it, haven’t we?!? Well, I always tell myself that if 630 million people can get it right on Facebook, the so can I. Ditto for the millions on LinkedIn and the millions of people who have Twitter and blog accounts.
